My name is Rik van den Bos. During my studies I already knew that I wanted to specialize in poultry. Immediately after my graduation, I flew to Great Britain to work there as a poultry veterinarian. I mainly focused on free range and organic laying hens and broilers. After a few years I moved to a much more northern location, in Edinburgh, and started working for Aviagen, Ross Breeders. My responsibilities were to supervise grandparent and parent companies and broilers in Turkey, Middle East and Africa. During those 5 years I have seen and learned a lot.
At a certain point, however, I wanted to travel less and I came back to the Netherlands to work at the Achterhoek Poultry Practice. Here I now mainly work in the laying sector (rearing, propagation and final laying) and meat breeding sector. In addition, I occasionally fly to Russia and former Russian states for business guidance of large poultry integrations.
I think I have the best job in the world. We are all committed 100% to our poultry farmers every day. We guide, advise and think along at every level.
